Independent Travel Exchange (ITE), 2017 details coming soon.
The Independent Travel Exchange (ITE) is the backpacking and adventure travel industry’s very own business-to-business appointment-based networking day. Taking place for the first time in 2009, it was a huge success with over 100 companies in attendance each year. After taking a year off, it is back promising to help businesses get lots done over the course of the 2x 4 hour sessions on offer.
ITE is designed to provide a forum for Australasian tourism businesses to meet other local operators in order to canvas new business opportunities and develop networking contacts. Unlike other events, where businesses need to have international-ready product, ITE also welcomes developing businesses to introduce their product to the major suppliers, retailers and representatives central to the thriving backpacker and adventure travel market.
Once delegates have registered they can create a profile page, upload their logo, company details and product/service information (which will be available to view by all other registered delegates) and, most importantly, request specific appointments with key industry colleagues.
At the last ITE event, 78% of delegates found the event to be ‘business critical’ or ‘very useful’, with 95% saying they would recommend to their colleagues.

Adventure Travel & Backpacker Industry Conference (ABiC), 2017 details coming soon
The Adventure Travel & Backpacker Industry Conference (ABiC), which celebrated its 21th year in 2016, is the original and one of the biggest events in Australia for adventure and backpacker operators.
It will renew its place as part of the “Backpacker Week” of events which will also include the Independent Travel Exchange (ITE) and Golden Backpack Awards – the original awards evening for the Backpacker and adventure travel sector.
The aim of the program is to provide delegates with practical learning they can apply in their own businesses to boost the bottom line. As well as formal learning during the conference, there are networking opportunities at the pre-conference breakfast, during the tea/coffee & lunch breaks. Topics for discussion will be confirmed over the coming months, however as in previous years the topics will include both local and national content.
